Lisps and Stuttering

Children sitting on lawnIS YOUR SCHOOL AGED CHILD ABLE TO COMMUNICATE LIKE THEIR FRIENDS?

Does your child understand what you and others say and communicate using whole sentences?

Is your child easy to understand or are there some speech sounds that are unclear? Can your child write sentences, spell words and understand what they read? Have you noticed your child stuttering?

You can access a website to assisting in assesssing speech sounds and whether your child is developing as exspected? www.talkingchild.com/speechchart.aspx.

Did you know all sounds have a normal age for development? Therefore, if your child shows signs of their sounds not developing as anticipated, then they are less likely to devolop their sounds without help.

Your child also needs to understand and use words and sentences to manage at school, home, with friends and peers. If they ask you to repeat instructions or constantly misunderstand what you've said or talk in short sentences and make mistakes with their grammar then this could be a tell tale sign they are struggling. Initial hearing testing is important prior to any treatment.

Fiona offers a full assessment of your child's sound development and accurate advice on what to do, which takes approximately two hours.

To book an assessment call Fiona on 0412 281 159.
